- You shall not be proud of reading books. Reading books does not necessarily make you better than those who don’t read books.
- You shall be very selective about what you read. There are many crappy books that are cheaper and shallower than many TV shows and POP songs.
- You shall read the author not the book. He is a human and so are you.
- Every good book has a message for you. You shall communicate with it. You shall communicate about it. The author has tried to talk to you, you shall try to talk to him also.
- You shall discover other books through a good book. Every good book is a life and connected to many other lives. You shall read in a network of books.
- You shall download books from the internet. You shall have an eBook reader. We no longer have to cut trees to print books. Touching paper or showing books on your shelves shall not make you feel intelligent.
- You shall abandon some books half read.
- You shall get inspiration from the books you read. You are not a hard disk.
- You shall not worry about the number of books you have read. You shall not worry about the number of minutes you or your fellow countrymen spend reading books. You shall not worry about any number.
- You shall not criticize other people’s books or lives. You read to understand not to find faults with others.
